Hi there 👋🏻,

Card cloning is a type of fraud where criminals create a copy of your payment card and use it for unauthorised transactions. To help you stay safe, here are some essential tips to prevent card cloning and keep your finances secure.

1. Use Contactless or Mobile Payments

Whenever possible, opt for contactless payments or mobile wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay. These methods use encryption and tokenisation, making them much harder to clone than traditional card swipes.

2. Be Cautious at ATMs and Payment Terminals

  • Always inspect ATMs and card readers for any unusual attachments or loose parts—these could be skimming devices used to capture your card details.

  • If an ATM looks suspicious or the card slot is difficult to use, choose another machine.

3. Cover Your PIN

When entering your PIN, always cover the keypad with your other hand. This helps prevent hidden cameras or prying eyes from capturing your details.

4. Monitor Your Transactions Regularly

Check your Wayex transaction history frequently via the Wayex app or online portal. If you notice any unauthorised transactions, report them immediately to Wayex support.

5. Use Secure Online Payment Methods

  • Only enter your Wayex card details on secure websites (look for "https" in the URL).

  • Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for extra protection when making payments.

6. Avoid Public Wi-Fi for Transactions

Avoid using public Wi-Fi when making online purchases or accessing your Wayex account. If necessary, use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to add an extra layer of security.

7. SMS Confirmations for Extra Security

Wayex has SMS confirmation enabled for all users, adding an extra layer of security before cashing out or transferring crypto. This ensures every transaction is verified for your protection.

8. Use RFID-Blocking Wallets

Some criminals use RFID skimming devices to steal card information wirelessly. Consider using an RFID-blocking wallet to protect your Wayex card from unauthorised access.

9. Keep Your Card Information Private

Never share your Wayex card details, PIN, or CVV number with anyone, even if they claim to be from Wayex. Legitimate Wayex representatives will never ask for sensitive information over the phone or email.

10. Report Lost or Stolen Cards Immediately

If your Wayex card is lost or stolen, report it immediately through the Wayex app or customer support. Your card can be blocked instantly, and a replacement issued to prevent fraudulent transactions. You can learn more about that here.

By following these tips, you can significantly reduce the risk of card cloning and keep your account secure. If you suspect any fraudulent activity, contact us via the live chat or email support@wayex.com.

Stay vigilant, stay secure with Wayex!
